Can a Female Dogs get pregnant in the first Heat Cycle? Of course, but I don’t recommend it. I do not think the dogs have aged enough to take care of themselves or the addition to babies.
Most heat cycles will last for about 20 days and the highest chance of pregnancy occurs during the middle of that cycle.
Don’t want heat cycles? If you are not planning on breeding the puppy, get them spayed. There are no side affects. Waiting on this has no benefits and it is always recommended to get this done before she shows her first Female Dog Heat Symptoms.
For male dogs, neutering is also an option. Neutering is when the male dog has both its testicles removed. This is also called castration.
